Abstract: Actuator impedance play a key role in advanced vibration control applications. In this work author propose an innovative layout for a piezo-actuation stage devoted to the force/position controls of the supports of rotating machines. Proposed solution is designed in order to obtain an isotropic behaviour and a frequency response which is optimised respect to dynamical behaviour of controlled machine taking count of performance constraints of chosen piezo-actuators. Authors also introduce an innovative design procedure to proceed to a proper sizing of the proposed solution with limited costs in terms of needed computational resources. Proposed actuation layout and corresponding design procedure have been applied successfully applied to a benchmark test case in order to demonstrate their feasibility, reliability and potential advantages.
