Varied density of vehicles under city, highway and rural environments in V2V communication

Abstract: To provide efficient vehicle to vehicle (V2V) throughput in different environments, a good radio deployment model is required to support real-time implementation. Current V2V radio propagation path loss models are based on an additional model for attenuation of an evolving obstacle such as Nakagami, Log normal, etc. These models do not take into account the effects of the vehicle on line of sight (LoS) modelling between the transmitter and receiver and also do not take into account evaluation in different environments. LoS component requires signal amplification or power. For this reason, here we present an efficient model of radio propagation path loss taking into account the obstacle in LoS under a different environmental environment. Experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed model in terms of throughput, collision, and successful packet transmission for varied density of vehicles, taking into account the number of different compounds in different environments. The result shows that the proposed model is effective given the various densities.
