Abstract: The internet of things (IoT) continues to affirm its importance in the context of information and communication technologies (ICT) for the development of organisation and society. The ecosystem of IoT may still be in a nascent state but is rapidly evolving. As far as the business demand is concerned the demand for IoT solutions seems to be coming from all industry verticals across all functions. Therefore, it is required to align different business functions to IoT. Human resource management function is one such pivotal function. It is believed that good HR practice enhances employee engagement. There is an increasing awareness that employee engagement is pivotal to successful commercial and business performance, where engaged employees are the "backbone of good working environments where people are industrious, ethical and accountable" (Levinson, 2007; Cleland et al., 2008). The paper presents an analysis of human resource management practices and IoT interventions on employee engagement at workplace. Further, the paper discusses that, in practice, organisations need to continuously realign work practices with IoT to enhance the employee engagements, and stakeholder interests.
