Abstract: Semiconductors form the essential part of integrated circuits which are used in all electronic equipment and have revolutionised the world of electronics. The setting up of semiconductor fabrication industry is a tough task because of various challenging factors. Industries in India have initiated the setting up of the plant, but still, they are struggling to identify challenging factors hindering the setting up of semiconductor fabrication plants. A total of 27 challenging factors were identified through detailed literature and discussion with industrial experts by a questionnaire-based survey. Further, essential 15 challenging factors are identified based on mean-variance. Finally, this paper then uses the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to prioritise the challenging factors.
