International Journal of Radio Frequency Identification Technology and Applications (IJRFITA), Vol. 1, No. 1, 2006

Abstract: This paper analyses three Tx/Rx isolation methods for an RFID reader: use of separate transmission and receiving antennas, use of a circulator and use of a directional coupler. With portable readers, directional couplers offer the most suitable performance owing to their small size, low cost and most often sufficient performance.
