Abstract: The basic objective of this paper lies in establishing the importance of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in building organisational character and in the effective administration of human resource management. An underlying objective of the paper is to develop an awareness of the implications of HRIS in strengthening Organisational Character (OC). In order to have an ethical leadership that is efficient and effective, a corporate culture that is both value based and value driven and a symbiotic man-technology relationship that rewards merit and eschews mediocrity, one thing is absolutely necessary - that is, to have an HRIS. HRIS then becomes an indispensable enabler for developing corporate character through strategic HR intervention. It is on this theoretical premise that the prognosis of this paper has been posited and the logic of our argument rests.
