Abstract: Sustainable manufacturing enables automotive component manufacturing organisations to develop products with minimal environmental impact. Appropriate strategies need to be deployed to facilitate development of ecofriendly products and processes. This article presents a study in which eight sustainable manufacturing strategies were analysed and prioritised using fuzzy axiomatic design (FAD) methodology. Triangular fuzzy numbers were employed for expressing the inputs related to criteria of sustainable manufacturing, as real world experience has difficulty in measurement together. Expert team inputs were obtained and total information content (TIC) values were calculated for all strategies. Strategy with least TIC value namely 'Auditing tools' was the best alternative. The prioritised strategies were being subjected to implementation in the case organisation. Effectiveness verification of the implementation need to be carried out after a defined period by the organisation through actual measurement.
