Abstract: Accidents are the major cause of destruction of human lives as it is the most uninvited and unintentional happening that causes a lot of damage, injury as well as they can cause loss of human life. Road accidents have been major reason for loss of human lives. Seeking the current scenario of increasing road accidents, a working hardware prototype has been proposed along with android-based application to avoid road accident. This paper represents the scenario where collision of vehicles is avoided by alerting the driver with a buzzer whenever another car with ZigBee, is in range with the current car. Communication between the cars will take place via ZigBee. Position of the approaching vehicles can be seen on an android application installed on a mobile device that aims to depict the exact location of the vehicles on Google map.
