  Abstract/
Summary
In this article we propose an approach aimed to provide online, digital maintenance documents customized for complex products that must be used in various typical contextual conditions. The customization process takes into account the product usage profiles, the users’ behavior and the environmental factors like temperature, humidity, the presence of dusts and physical supports like the state of the roads in the case of automobiles. Depending on these contextual conditions, the approach allows to elaborate specific documents for different maintenance tasks to be performed either by the end users or by skilled stakeholders. The documents must be updated dynamically to follow the utilization conditions changes. In this purpose, we propose an approach based on a collaborative environment for maintenance management built around the MD-Cust system proposed for customizing the maintenance documents according to the utilization conditions. This collaborative environment includes a PLM solution as workspace for the maintenance operators, a computer-aided maintenance management system (CAMMS) for collecting contextual data and a CAD system for the management of the product's configurations. The MD-Cust system is targeted to deliver updated service manuals describing the required tooling, appropriate procedures and the competent maintenance operators. For illustration, a case study is outlined for automobile's maintenance document customization.
