Abstract/ Summary |
Quality management is a method for establishing and improving processes of core business activities. Since early civilization, a good quality was valued and producers set standards to distinguish goods meet the standard from ones do not. This paper discusses how ontology-based modeling paradigm can support product realization in the perspective of quality management. In this paper, quality management requirements are determined from a section of ISO 9001 and the potential contributions of the ontology approach are discussed. Existing research works on ontology have focused on corporate level ontologies and conceptual level ontologies and have limitations on representing system-level design and their complex morphological characteristics, including joining constraints. The described potential contribution in product realization will provide a guideline to implement ontology-based assembly modeling paradigm and to realize philosophical and systematical approach to quality management. |
