Abstract/ Summary |
The role of Product Lifecycle Management systems on IT strategy landscape is gaining more significance in automotive industry. There is growing demand for integration and collaboration. The erstwhile PDM implementations are giving way to more strategic, but still evolving PLM deployments. This paper examines the current challenges faced by automotive industry and evaluates the demands from new generation PLM solutions. The complexities of handling multi-domain data, re-using single digital product definition along lifecycle, impact of globalization, role of standards are discussed. Also paper looks at new IT architectural approaches and integration/interoperability to related enterprise systems. The focus of paper is to recognize business drivers and identify value add PLM solutions can provide for deriving competitive differentiation from their deployment. |
