  Abstract/
Summary
This paper presents the semantic data model behind a newgeneration closed-loop PLM system. The model s able to fully address the requirements of a real-world closed-loop approach to PLM. In this approach, data on product instances, gathered from the field via smart embedded information devices, are used both to manage the lifecycle of existing product units, and to create, update and manage proper knowledge about the product, useful for the improvement of the future product generations. An exhaustive overview of the semantic model is carried out in order to describe how the model addresses the requirements cited above.
