  Abstract/
Summary
Today, there are missing a manageable over-all solution for a ship's life cycle management as well as an organizational and a software integration of life cycle management systems. A so called life cycle management system combining and analyzing the appropriate data supports a reduction of costs for the ship's operation, servicing, maintenance and repair. By using such a system, servicing cycles can be adapted tailored to the ship's needs and maintenance activities can be executed quick and targeted. Also damages will be prevented because of an in time replacement of component parts. Further more, repairs are executed quicker and cheaper and, finally, the costs for the ship's recycling will be reduced.
