  Abstract/
Summary
This paper presents an approach that incorporates Quality Function Deployment (QFD) for identifying an appropriate PDM system for a specific company. The use of QFD rationalizes the process of identifying a PDM system for a successful collaborative product development strategy. In this approach the user requirements were directly correlated with the PDM functions. This helps in prioritizing PDM systems and in providing a transparent method of understanding the correlation between the requirements of electronic data management of the industry with the available PDM systems.
