  Abstract/
Summary
This paper presents an ontology-driven, STEP-based approach to the explicit semantics capturing and reusing to support heterogeneous information sharing across lifecycle oriented applications in computer aided design, quality assurance, and product development process management. The neutral STEP file format is used to represent supplementary product information beyond geometric data, while the domain ontologies classify and describe the semantics of these data. So the meaning of product data can be understood, interpreted and shared across lifecycle applications.
