  Abstract: The non-linear, asynchronous and uncertain nature must be considered in the control of air-conditioning (AC) system as the AC systems tend to become large-scale and more complicated. In this paper, a fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES) is introduced into the AC control. A fuzzy automaton for AC system is given. A new modelling and control method is then proposed. Cost and effectiveness functions are optimised. The simulation results show that the optimal control can be better achieved using the FDES for the AC systems.
