Abstract: This study presents a generalised procedure for designing finite-time adaptive terminal sliding mode synchronisation control of chaos systems with uncertainties and unknown parameters. A terminal sliding surface is designed for chaos synchronisation and its finite-time convergence to the origin equilibrium is proved. On the basis of the new terminal sliding surface, an adaptive terminal sliding mode controller is designed, by means of adaptive laws to deal with the uncertainties and unknown parameters in the chaos systems. The bounds of the uncertainties and the unknown parameters should be known in advance. The finite-time control idea and Lyapunov stability theory are referred to prove that the error system is converged in finite time. The example is simulated to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the procedure.
