Technology policy in India - key issues and future perspectives

Abstract: A technology policy statement was introduced in India in 1983, say 25 years after the enunciation of the Scientific Policy Resolution. The creation of technology-base was planned over the solid foundations of the science-base. As a result, capacities and capabilities have been built in many fields of science and technology. Now, with a view to enabling India to develop technological competitiveness and to attain excellence in the global market, the author has reviewed the contours of technology development in the country and has suggested certain remedial measures for mid-way corrections.
