On the usefulness and ease of use of location-based services: insights into the information system innovator's dilemma
by Iris Junglas
International Journal of Mobile Communications (IJMC), Vol. 5, No. 4, 2007
Abstract: Some recent technology innovations display the functionalities that are significantly different from any predecessor. This presents an impending dilemma for innovators as the potential consumers often lack a reference point for judging the usefulness and ease of use of a new system. Exemplary for Location-Based Services (LBS), this paper examines the perceptions of usefulness and ease of use before as well as after adoption across a variety of tasks using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). An experimental environment is chosen, which provides 58 subjects with ubiquitous access to LBS.
