Special Issue on: "Food and Drinking Water Safety in China and Japan"

Guest Editor:
Guangwei Huang, Sophia University, Japan

Food and drinking water safety is a long-standing issue in China. In Japan, the radioactive contamination of food and drinking water has emerged as a public concern due to the nuclear accident of 2011.

This special issue aims at improved characterisation of the current situations in both countries. Putting China and Japan together is not for simple comparison, but serves as a testimony of how a country with an excellent reputation for its food and drinking water safety can suddenly become a source of health concern, and of how that concern is being addressed.

The issue targets professionals in the fields of water and agricultural management, and in public health as well.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include but are not limited to:

  • Impact of water quality on food safety
  • Impact of agricultural practice on food safety and drinking water quality
  • Impact of the nuclear accident on food and drinking water safety
  • Impact of food culture on the environment
