Abstract: We are more familiar with physical than with virtual space, both as users and practitioners. Physical and virtual space interacts in four important ways. On the one hand physical space can be visualized in virtual space. And planning or design can be carried out online. Virtual space, on the other hand, can be analyzed spatially or mapped. Virtual space can also inspire the design of new concepts of physical space. Each of the interactions asks for appropriate tools. Examples of these will be given.
