Abstract: Machinery, equipment and tooling maintenance cost are amongst the main contributors to cost of production in any manufacturing firm. Reducing cost of maintenance practices by eliminating waste or unwanted intermediate processes and selecting optimum maintenance strategy can result in win-win situation to get competitive edge in present day dynamic market where end user requirement is highly specific and rapidly changing. The aim of this paper is to integrate agile thinking with evaluation of different maintenance strategies for different equipment at a selected thermal power station. The paper also explores selection of optimum maintenance strategies at a power plant using extent analysis of fuzzy AHP.

Keywords: agile thinking; maintenance strategies; multi-criteria decision making; MCDM; fuzzy analytic hierarchy process; extent analysis.
