Abstract: Data mining is a technique of extracting useful and hidden patterns from huge databases that were previously unknown. It is a very promising and effective technique for the process of decision making. Educational data mining is an emerging field which concerns with the development of new methods for revealing useful information from data that comes from the education sector in order to improvise the learning experience and improve the standard of education. This paper provides a systematic review on the studies done over educational data mining in the past years. Research gaps in the current literature and further opportunities for research are presented.
