Abstract: One of the main challenges in technology transfer (TT) process is technology selection. Even though there are many researches that have focused on the technology selection, however technology selection remains a sensitive activity in technology management which there has not been much attention toward it by managers and scholars. Defining the position of technology selection in the technology transfer process, and considering technology selection through perspectives of technology management and a decision making problem, this paper presents a framework based on five professional workshops. In the mentioned framework, five technology selection criteria namely technological, technical, organisational capability, peripheral environment and supplier are identified and extracted by the exploratory factor analysis method. A real problem in automotive industry is also solved by using fuzzy TOPSIS method to explain how the framework is applied.
