Abstract: This article aims to present the main published works on degradable multi-state systems, maintenance planning, production scheduling and optimisation methods. Firstly, this review focuses on the characterisation of binary systems and multi-state systems based on the work published in the literature. Also, it presents the optimisation models which ensure continuity of service for repairable systems that can operate in degraded mode. Then, we review the main models which deal with the optimisation of maintenance strategies as well as those concerning the optimisation of production planning. After that, we introduce the approach of integrated production and maintenance planning for binary systems and ultimately for degradable multi-state systems.
