Abstract: Governments have become increasingly focused upon the setting of targets in efforts to improve the efficacy of police performance. However, performance assessments for police work are lacking clarity. In this paper, we suggest the value shop for performance assessment. On the basis of literature review, we suggest potential determinants of police performance in the value shop. On the basis of identified value configuration and determinants, this paper develops research propositions linking police performance to team climate, knowledge sharing, leadership roles and the stages of information technology.

Keywords: team climate; leadership roles; knowledge sharing; information technology; value shop; e-government; police investigation performance; electronic government; targets; police performance; performance assessment; performance evaluation.
