Abstract: Today's volatile market, which is influenced by global competition and changing customers' demands, has made the manufacturing companies to look for new manufacturing systems which can fulfil their requirements for global competition. Agile manufacturing systems (AMSs) are those systems which are capable to meet the requirements of modern manufacturing industries. But adoption and implementation of AMSs is not an easy task. There are certain attributes which not only influence the implementation process but also influence each other. The main objective of this paper is to identify and analyse these attributes. In the present work, these attributes have been identified through the literature, their ranking is done by a questionnaire-based survey and fuzzy agility evaluation (FAE) approach has been utilised in analysing their mutual interaction.

Keywords: agile manufacturing systems; attributes; fuzzy logic; manufacturing agility; modelling; fuzzy evaluation.
