Title: Building up the startup ecosystem in Korea

Abstract: This case study is targeted at understanding the startup ecosystem in Korea and addresses the challenges faced by Startup Alliance Korea, a non-profit organisation to build up the startup ecosystem in Korea. The organisation has been initiated by the Korean Government and financially supported Naver with 10M KRW budget for the next five years since year 2013. This study invites students to examine the related dilemmas and to evaluate the core strategies of building up the Korean startup ecosystem that has pros and cons for the startup companies based in Korea. In addition, this case research provides a full summary of startup ecosystem status with several cities included in Silicon Valley to understand the characteristics of the startup ecosystem in Korea.
