Abstract: 'Information Island' is a common phenomenon in the enterprises logistics informatisation in China. The fundamental reason is that most software developers fail to catch the commonness of logistics activities. EPC system aims to track and share logistics data between different enterprises in a supply chain. This paper thoroughly analyses EPCIS which is the core of EPC system and summarises the commonness of logistics activities. Then based on these, a general development method of logistics information system is proposed. This method grasps the commonness of logistics activities which helps to unify a development method of all logistics activities in operation layer. This eliminates not only the relationship among logistics activities but also the relationship between logistics activities and other modules like the inventory management module, which greatly improves the module reusability.
