Abstract: This paper is an attempt to bring out the issues that are relevant and crucial for determining appropriate tariff for urban water services. It discusses different tariff structures being used in India and brings out the issues involved in pricing urban water services. The paper also includes study of existing water tariff structure in Allahabad City (India) and identifies merits and demerits in existing tariff structure. A tariff structure has also been proposed for Allahabad City. Comparison between the existing and proposed tariff has been done so as to justify the proposed tariff structure.
