Abstract: Some possibilities of furthering the study of heat transfer in reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (I.C.E.) concern, mainly, the definition of the boundary conditions of mechanical components exposed to gases, if the variability in time of the phenomena and of the relevant surfaces are considered. In this brief note, some observations derived from theoretical and experimental experiences, elaborated on by the author, are reported.

Keywords: boundary conditions; cylinders; finite element analysis; FEA; heat transfer; internal combustion engines; reciprocating ICE; pistons.
