Abstract: Steganography is the art and science of hiding information. The success of the internet facilitates communication of people, but also enables illegal users to access data transmitted on the internet. Todays internet users are facing problems with data thieves and hackers. So, there is a strong need to design a system that enables the internet users to exchange their secret and private information safely across the web. Steganography is a tool which hides the data in other kinds of data, so that no one can suspect that some sensitive data are being transferred. In this paper, a new application for image steganography has been developed. It hides files in a joint photographic experts group (JPEG) image. This paper describes the methods used by the application and its performance evaluation for various JPEG images.
