Abstract: This paper describes how a student-led seminar approach was developed and implemented at a Swedish university and what results it brought. It was developed as an attempt to solve the common problems of seminar teaching to reach its full potential. The new type of seminar was implemented in a course during 2007 and has been in use since. It was very successful due to the fact that it solved or improved many of the seminar problems reported in the literature. The remaining issues can however not be solved until the new seminar approach is used on a more continuous basis, which makes it possible for the students to develop and feel safe in this teaching environment.
