Abstract: Watts-Strogatz particle swarm optimisation (WSPSO) is a new variant of particle swarm optimisation by employing small-world topology. In this variant, the topology of each particle is changed dynamically according to Watts-Strogatz rules within the whole evolutionary process. In this paper, WSPSO is employed to solve the directing orbits of chaotic systems, simulation results show this new variant increases the performance significantly when compared with other three variants of particle swarm optimisation.
