Abstract: The aim of this study is to develop proposed typologies of traditional and electronic banking operations strategy. The literature was revised to identify the typologies components and define them, then, identify the relationships between these components. Four proposed typologies were constructed. These typologies are: traditional/electronic banking cost-oriented typology, and traditional/electronic banking differentiation typology. These typologies can be used by managers in making operations decisions. Also, the researcher can use these typologies to understand the operations actions, capabilities and performance indicators of banking operations, so they can develop empirical prediction models accordingly. It is the first paper that developed a broader scope, more sophisticated, and oriented typologies towards the banking industry, that combine both traditional and electronic banking.

Keywords: typology; operations strategy; traditional banking; electronic banking; e-banking; banking operations; prediction models; modelling.
