Abstract: This paper describes a Gaussian puff dispersion model making use of the Pasquill-Gifford (PG) and on-site dispersion schemes. It includes a module in which the dispersion parameters are directly related to the basic physical parameters describing the turbulent state of the atmospheric boundary layer (OML dispersion parameters). The calculated concentrations have been compared with measured values obtained in 12 dispersion tracer experiments conducted between 1979 and 1983 at the Whiteshell Laboratories (Canadian Nuclear Fuel Waste Management Program). The comparisons have been carried out using the statistical models BOOT and RESIDUAL and, based on the results, conclusions are drawn regarding the performance of the local-scale diffusion schemes.
