Abstract: Women|s roles as agents of change in the environment have increasingly become the focus of both research and policy concerns over the past decade. Unfortunately, the central and crucial role that women play, particularly in the developing world, is still often overlooked and unappreciated, rendering them voiceless, greatly diminishing their contributions as both producers and creative agents in environmental protection. This paper documents the environmental practices of four women in Nepal and highlights their achievements as environmental managers. It also illustrates why women should and can play a fundamental role in environmental decision-making within the political arena.
