Title: The latest in ethical naturalism: the natural goodness approach

Authors: Ronald Sandler

Abstract: In this paper I consider a naturalistic account of what makes a character trait a virtue. After clarifying the account in some detail, I offer replies to several objections to it. I argue that although the account has promise, it also has limitations and areas in need of development that its proponents must address.

Keywords: ethical naturalism; natural goodness; character traits; virtues; ethics.
