Abstract: Questions relating to the environment touch on Christian theology at several points. Practically they belong to moral theology. Dogmatically, however, they depend on the doctrines of creation, of original sin, of stewardship of the goods of the earth, of the human destiny, of the expected end of the world. This paper discusses creation, original sin, and eschatology, as forming the doctrinal background of the questions of ecology. It suggests points for further investigation.
Keywords: environment; Christian theology; moral theology; stewardship; human destiny; end of the world; creation; original sin; eschatology; ecology; Christianity; religion; religious doctrine.
