Abstract: This contribution is a summary of several conclusions drawn from discussions with some of the speakers and participants of the MCDA '74 Meeting (October 2011, Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland). In it, we explore the reasons for integrating MCDA and GIS and give an overview of the concrete works that have been achieved, the tools that are available and their use. This is not meant to be a state of the art in this domain. It is merely an analysis of the results that have been accomplished and how these position themselves in the general objective that is the MCDA-GIS integration. From a technical point of view to the usability that is expected from integrated systems, we will see what drives this work and the types of results that one can or should expect.

Keywords: multicriteria decision analysis; MCDA; geographical information systems; GIS; MCDA-GIS integration.
