Abstract: Managing the water resources thoughtfully and profitably is the most crucial responsibility. This paper aims to study and analyse the water supply system at city level with the help of simulation technique and Decision Support System (DSS). In this study, the capital of Tamil Nadu (India), Chennai City is considered. The study analyses the existing level of water supply and it tries to fill the gap by providing different alternative solutions in allocation of water. Allocation of water to the Chennai City could be desired based on the maximum release and minimum deficit conditions occurred among the various policies of simulation model. In this work, various strategies for optimal supply of surface water are discussed.
