Abstract: Ensuring information integrity in healthcare enterprises is salient. Today, medical errors resulting from the poor processing of information are pervasive in most healthcare organisations. In this paper, we provide a systematic framework, grounded in the theory of semiotics, to study medical errors. We then show the viability of human-machine strategies for addressing various categories of medical errors.
