Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the influence of some parameters related with the motors used in electrical vehicles, mainly permanent magnet synchronous and induction motors. The main objective is to minimise the losses in order to increase the vehicle autonomy. In this work, the attention is focused on the selection of the speed controller coefficients and its impact in total losses, using for this analysis the motor speed-torque trajectories. Moreover, the dependency of the switching frequency over the total losses in the motor-converter device is shown. The analysis determines the optimum value for the switching frequency and the results are compared with commercial drives.
