Abstract: A box type solar cooker having a double glass cover and a plane mirror reflector has been tested for its thermal performance. In the present study, performance of solar box cooker has been compared by using two different sensible heat storage materials (sand and granular carbon). By using these materials as a mixture and spread it over absorber tray in the form of thin layer and fully packed with a float glass shows the significant improvement in the performance of box type solar cooker.
