Abstract: This paper proposed an effective steganalytic method for steganography in G.723.1 compressed speech transmitted by voice over internet protocol (VoIP). For G.723.1 codec, this paper indicates that, there are limitations for values of some parameters like pulse position. However, information hiding does not consider this, which results in problems that the parameters exceed the limit. By checking whether pulse position parameters are in available ranges or not frame by frame, speeches with hidden information can be discovered quickly. Experimental results show that, this method outperforms previous methods, and is also effective and real-time. For speech segments with duration of only three seconds, the accuracy can be higher than 90%, when the duration is no less than ten seconds, the performance is almost perfect.
