Abstract: This paper concerns the exploitation of quality function deployment (QFD) technique in total productive maintenance (TPM) programme. In this direction, this paper points out the appearance of a technique called maintenance quality function deployment (MQFD) in literature arena. Though MQFD facilitates the integration of QFD and TPM, numerous actions evolved through it may not be applied by top management simultaneously and immediately. Hence these actions need to be ranked and prioritised. As MQFD is not incorporated with this facility, the need of integrating analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with it was realised. In this background, a literature journey involving the study of TPM, QFD, MQFD and AHP was carried out. The findings of this literature journey have been reported in this paper. Using these findings, a model called analytic maintenance quality function deployment (AMQFD) was evolved. The features of AMQFD and its implementation steps have been presented in this paper.
