Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to test an explanation of how organisational trust may influence employees| attitudes and behaviours. The model tested suggests that organisational trust affects work outcomes by influencing Perceived Organisational Support (POS), which in turn prompts employees to reciprocate with work outcomes. The findings extend previous research by demonstrating that organisational trust affects work outcomes via the mediating variable of POS. A discussion of issues related to organisational trust and POS is presented, as well as recommendations for future research.
