Abstract: Demands in industry are changing towards more flexible training, where people will be able to learn more self-reliantly in their own time and place. To meet these demands, the MoFIT project is started. The MoFIT project aims to meet the needs of vocational training by providing flexible Web-based training. This paper describes the development of didactic templates as a way to support trainers in the application of new ideas with regard to flexible learning. Didactic templates are examples of ways to structure and organise training, implemented in a course environment. They give guidance for successful course- and lesson design. This paper describes two didactic templates as implemented in WebCT. Each of them represents a different Web-based learning model, a traditional model and a mentoring model. The usability and practicality of the two templates were evaluated, which showed that trainers asked for a combination of the two. Finally, design guidelines are provided to apply and combine these two models in practice.
