Abstract: The direct and indirect photolysis of Environmental Endocrine Disruptors (EEDs) was investigated with and without Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) extracted from landfill leachates. The results indicate that degradation of EEDs followed a pseudo-first-order. Photosensitised transformation of EEDs occurred because of the light absorption of DOM under sunlight irradiation while distinctive retardation effects were observed under UV/TiO2 irradiation, which is related to the structure and concentration of DOM. These results reported here have significance not only to the design of a practical photocatalysed oxidation system, but also to the selection of a feasible and effective wastewater treatment technique.
