Abstract: At times, an over-emphasis can be put on the importance of technology in modern education. It is argued that technology can only have a real effect on education if strategic thinking and development systems are effective. The focus of development should be on educational tasks, which encourage cognitive interaction, consideration of perspectives and collaborative working. Two systems are described which show how technology is used in support of a task-based approach.

Keywords: task-based learning; systems approach; perspectives; educational strategy.
